Legal

Nobility.VIP Titles are vetted researched historical Titles, backed by legal documentation. All our Titles are inheritable, and can be conveyed, transferred or passed on. The legal transfer process goes through UK solicitors/Lawyers.

United Kingdom Titles

Firstly, Titles granted by the CROWN are ‘’PEERAGES’’ these are not allowed to be sold (the current UK Monarch is King Charles III). The law prohibiting the sale of ‘’PEERAGES’’ is the The Honours (Prevention of Abuses) Act 1925. The Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom, that makes the sale of peerages or any other honours illegal. The act was passed by the Parliament in the wake of David Lloyd George’s 1922 cash-for-honours scandal.

Feudal/Manorial Titles are Legal to sell (Only Lord & Lady or Lord Baron & Lady Baroness).

In English Law the holding of a Lordship or Barony of the manor is treated as being separate from the actual lands of the manor, although in very rare cases the title may confer some rights associated with the Manor, such as hunting, fishing land use or mineral rights. The title of Lord of the Manor is regarded as being an “incorporeal hereditament” a Feudal/Manorial Title (an inheritable property that is not attached to physical land itself) and is thus capable of being sold and purchased as property in its own right.

The rights allow to the use of the titled name of the bygone Lordship of the Manor once held by Copyhold meaning to hold a copy of what was recorded in the ‘Manorial Court’. Copyhold was abolished in 1925 with the introduction of the Law of Property Act 1925. Manorial rights are attached to land ownership only if registered at the Land registry as per the 2002 Act. If the Feudal/Manorial title has no registered ‘manorial rights’ the right to the use the titled name is the only right remaining if no land is included?

French Titles

In France 1955, a civil court, the tribunal de grande instance de la Seine confirmed that “the nobility is a quality that no longer has any legal effect” but it still exists as a social class. The Republic of France even recognizes the old titles as “accessories of the name” and which can thus appear on the acts of civil status or on your bank card, or checkbook if you are duly titled.

The problem is that there are not many authentic noble names left. More or less 3,500 families according to ANF specialists (Association of French Nobility Assistance). Some bygone Princes had ‘fons hourum’ (The right to grant titles)
